Why is detoxification important for health?

Detoxification is an essential process for the health of the body, in order to eliminate the many common pollutants and toxins we are exposed to daily. These can include the toxins associated with excessive alcohol consumption, cigarette smoking, recreational drugs, workplace chemicals, heavy metals, saturated and trans fats and junk foods.

When the liver and digestive tract become overloaded, cells that line the intestinal wall can become damaged and more permeable. This can lead to the absorption of toxins and can disrupt the delicate balance in the gut resulting in constipation, bloating, excessive flatulence, irregular bowel movements and the overgrowth of harmful bacteria. This effect can leave you feeling tired all the time, irritable, nauseous and prone to allergies and other immune disorders caused by imbalances in the digestive tract.
